NIMS has undertaken, using substantiated data capable of addressing human ment, the development of mathematical models that enable to predict the path in which infectious diseases spread and perform simulations to test various mediation strategies. Research regarding the acquisition and analysis of data on regional population structures, human ment and infectious diseases incidences as well as research on methodologies to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of infectious disease spread pattern simulation models are being undertaken.

- Acquisition of real-world data on populations and human mobility and development of a mathematical model regarding infectious disease spread patterns
- Research on model verification to establish the accuracy and realness of simulation models
- Development of a simulator capable of verifying responses to the incidence of infectious diseases
