NIMS has been at the forefront of discovering and resolving mathematical problems that are encountered by industry in practice as the demand for mathematics in the private sector across the entire society has increased in light of the coming 4th Industrial Revolution. ICIM established within the Pangyo Start-up Campus in 2016, contributes to the enhancement of national technical competitiveness by resolving practical mathematics problems faced by businesses through expert moderators in addition to promoting cooperation among universities, research institutions and private sector enterprises. On the other hand, beginning with the 2014 ignition program for mathematics in industry, CAMP has been working to establish an ecosystem for industrial mathematics based on a cooperative network with universities across the country. In addition, it has undertaken research to resolve mid-to-long term practical problems difficult for industry to cope with immediately and has also developed prospective research tasks and trained personnel in the field of industrial mathematics by establishing expert groups in each of the fields of industrial mathematics.
